Mamba village

I’ve been walking in the streets of Nairobi almost everyday for the past years. Sometimes I’m surrounded by trees, raw grass and animals on other days I’m surrounded by buildings which are growing in numbers each day. Street lights being mended, roads extended, bridges in making and new shopping centers bigger and better . The fair mixture of both worlds in Nairobi is beautiful. Our potential growth in Kenya is remarkable. In this excitement the majority have left places like mamba village unnoticed. Indeed for me it was an opportunity to enjoy a less crowded place.

On my first visit to mamba village I was absolutely fascinated with what I saw. It certainly was a place that has a long history. The place seemed fairly small at first there wasn’t much to see near the entrance. The entry fee for non residents is 10$ and the residents at 2$. Once we got the tickets we moved our way towards the crocodile section. While we walked in I turned around. My eyes then landed on the open space behind me. My fingers tingled with excitement as I yearned to see more. In that moment the nature solaced me.

The place needed a bit of a fix up to bring more charm to it. Facing back I saw the crocodiles which were massive. There were so many of them it was almost as if it was a family reunion.  A tour guide approached us he was lovely and passionate about his job while he was talking with the rest, I couldn’t help but wander away but I thought it would be better to experience my time there with the rest.

The chance to carry a baby crocodile is amusing, until your given it. I was told I could hold it. I felt uncomfortable just thinking about it but I went for it our guide managed to balance one it into my palms. It stayed there peacefully for awhile at least. My heart beat went way above average when it started to flex on me. The muscle movements of his body made me go all squeamish I dropped it on the floor instantly the little guy urinated on the floor. Frozen in shock our guide assured me it was alright.

The next section was my favorite it was the turtle enclosure. I really did enjoy playing with the turtles I’m sure they too were smiling as I was carrying them. They were less scarier than the crocodiles. An ostriches enclosure is where we went next. We had a long walk to reach them. There were only two we were able to feed them in the cage and watch them walk around. This place also has a lake with a boat, short horse ride, trampoline, bouncy castle, lifting chairs, and car merry go round for an additional 1$ a go. The small boating facility which took 10 minutes was lovely. The water moved so gentle as our boat moved, that rhythm still plays on my mine. That was the last activity of my day I love to revisit the place when I get the chance to do so.

To my readers stay calm, be careful and don’t do anything your not comfortable doing.
