What a week it’s been. Two Rivers and the Somali community in Nairobi held a Somali Cultural Festival at two rivers. Culture is the lifeblood of a vibrant society. Many Somalis came to support and showcase their products all cross two rivers mall. Great seeing sistersister.ke at the two rivers vendors. I really love all the designs they have. It was a great way for companies to expand their business network and build awareness of their own company. This allows different cultures to recognize their brand. Somalis core value is generosity, they always love to share and care for other’s. We find dignity in being helpful. That’s the beauty of my community that I love.

Buraanbur was sang at the festival. Buraanbur is a poetic form within traditional Somali poetry. There was also dhaanto, a traditional style of Somali music and folk dance in groups. Somali stars came to sing Kiin Jamac, Suldaan Seeraar, Hassan Gantal, Xaariir Ahmed and Khadar Keyow. They all performed amazingly with stunning vocals. A large number of the Somali community came to celebrate the week.

I always enjoy being at two rivers. I love how enormous it is. It’s like a big maze with cool things are very end. The restaurant there are awesome. My favorite one so far is Istan.bulhouse . My highlight of the week has to be the artists performing.
